There was a period when milk in bags was fairly popular here in Michigan, though I have not seen it in a long time. It seems like the format was a half-gallon, and a plastic pitcher you could also buy, that had a sorta spout that you could put the bag in, to neatly cut it, so it poured smoothly.

Milk in bags is also a thing here. It's really useful when you want to, say, have some icy chocolate milk. You just froze the bag and rip it open and pour it in the blender to make icy chocolate milk.
And thus begins what is soon to be a classic forum in-joke...I am giving you a milk bag.
