37 years ago today, the Gulfstream Peregrine business jet prototype flies for the first time. It's one of the earliest single engine civilian jet aircraft, and is a derivative of the company's American Hustler prototype from 1970 (more on that one later, as it was a pretty interesting design). Despite receiving 27 deposit-paid orders, the project is cancelled due to not meeting FAA regulations. The lone surviving prototype (N84GP) is now on display in Oklahoma.
Single engine turbines are exceedingly rare, and most civilian aircraft use at least a twin engine setup. I'm 99% sure, but the 2016+ Cirrus Vision SF50 might be the only successful civilian single jet to enter production.
