Time for a fun fact:
In 1822 Charles Babbage, so fed up with finding mathematical errors in his peer's work, decided to create a mechanical device that could calculate equations with perfect accuracy. Not only that, the machine could be programmed to solve new equations. He came up with the 'Analytical Engine', or 'computer'. The last version of the machine read programs and data from punch cards and had a memory capable of storing 1,000 numbers with 50 decimal digits each, which roughly translates to 20.7 Kb.
As it turned out, building a computer in the age of horse drawn carriages was rather difficult. Babbage continued to work on the machine for years but kept getting distracted. During this period in history, organ grinders filled the streets of Britain and Babbage hated them. Their loud, annoying music made it really hard for him to get any work done. So he ran a campaign against the street performers and lobbied the government to have them banned from public spaces.
"I have spared neither expense nor personal trouble in endeavoring to put a stop to this nuisance," he said.
Babbage never finished his vision. He died in 1878 having only managed to complete a partial model of his Analytical Engine. When he did, a procession of organ grinders stood outside the wake. Because 19th century organ grinders were evidently assholes.
