Predators and Prey

Ah, alrighty. Gotcha! I was thinking that you were saying that birbs didn't have eyelids either, so that's why I was confused. A sleeping fish must look really... odd. They'd just be stationary in the water, I guess?

*puts my paw to my chin and thinks*
You drive a hard bargain, Mr. Minty! Deal!

They sleep sideways on leaves, and pet stores sell these little plastic leaves that you can stick on the side of your tank to give them a little bed.

They barely stick half the time, so he sleeps on the floor of his tank when it falls off. Multiple times when my betta goes to sleep, I have to check and make sure he's not dead.

Poor fella! This why we prey eat leaves and such! They're evil, I tell ya!

I don't blame you for feeling the need to check on 'em though. I'd definitely be doing the same if I saw my aquatic compadre at the bottom of the tank!

Flattering, to say the least.

It's weird being told it's normal, and then seeing them at the bottom of the tank, and then feeling like a dick for waking them up. It's a regular roller coaster of emotions.

And people say fish aren't exciting pets.
