Ok, here's a question for the U.S. contingent. I know that the spelling differences in the states is mostly due to Webster neatening up the language and removing what he decided were surplus letters (i.e. the 'u' in Labour and Colour, and the 'e' off the end of axe). Why is Whisky stateside spelt Whiskey?
