Initially, yeah. But then I dug into the fairing and found out most of the wiring was chewed out by mice. And since I don't have much use for an AM/FM/Cassette/CB setup anyway, I tore it out and sold what I could. I couldn't test the air suspension, and a rebuild kit was stupid expensive, so that went too. I continued that until I had nothing left but the bare frame and fork. Then I decided that since I have a rust free, straight frame with a clean VIN, I could do whatever I wanted with it.
Plan A right now is to build the frame back up. I'm making a complete custom wiring harness with accessory provisions (phone charger, hand warmers, and integrated road cams, that kind of stuff), GSX-R forks, new brakes, and conventional rear suspension. I want to keep the outside looking generally like a naked Goldwing, but also modernize whatever I can.
Yes!hmmm, are you absolutely sure?
Yes!
*Takes off your mask for you*
Now take a deep breath.
That's going to be a little more upgraded than mine is currently. Minus maybe all the bags on mine
Gave me some ideas though based on what I currently don't have on it, need to ride it a bit to figure out what I want. Thinking about adding a Bluetooth adapter to it. It's got the audio package on it so I want to utilize it a bit![]()
Yay!
Good!
*Hugs tightly*
Yeah, but yours runs.
Fair point, yours could run just need some tires and you can run it around
Edit: Meant wheels , just having tires won't do any good haha
That's actually one of the few original parts I'm keeping. I love the old two-tone Comstars.
E: These things.

*puts on gas mask*
YIKES!!! Perhaps it couldn't handle the Minty?
...or, maybe it's one of @Simo's zoo traps![]()
Those look so nice :O
While I like the rims on mine, I wouldn't mind something a bit different.
Also, the new wing for those interested: ^^

That seat looks ridiculously plush. Nice bike!
I thought my current bike had a nice seat!
I'M GOING TO BE SO COMFORTABLE NOW
Yeah, yeah. Rub it in, why don't you.
*Cries in Ascot*
NUUU I'M SORRY ;_;
*Tries to dry up tears*
Is k, I'm just teasing.
That said, I have a road trip planned for this summer and I'm not sure if that much distance on a thumper is going to be as much fun as I think it is.
I'm sorry to hear that! Your friend has my condolences. I'm sure everything will work out fine for you, too. You'll figure something out, I'm sure. Let us know how things went when you come back!Oooooh, that'd be awesome, if I could get it to 'load' Minty into a Zoo!!!!
~
Probably will be a bit low key here, for the coming 4 or 5 days; my friend's father had a stroke, see we are driving downstate tomorrow to the Lansing/Jackson area, to visit, and help his mom out for a few days...in an old 2001 Toyota Corolla. Hope we make it OK...no towing coverage, and pretty much just enough gas to make it there and back. (hopefully)
...not too worried, but geez, been living way, way too close to the edge of beyond flat broke for a long while here.
Will be away from a computer Monday-Friday, give or take; will have my phone, though I am not the best with typing on one.
Make sure the Cheetah is housed SECURELY in a zoo.
I suppose it depends on the mileage, but yeah I did about an 7-800mile (1150-1300km) trip on my 800cc cruiser. It was not the worst, but definitely was pushing the limits with it being loaded I was uncomfortable getting to the 5-6 hour mark of driving (With about 3-4 to go). TBH I think I overpacked (first trip I've done that long) but it was a bit fatiguing to do the trip in.
I have more plans to trip this summer and wanted something a little more suited for doing so. Trip to the upper peninsula of Michigan I'm thinking this year, Sault Ste Marie area.

Also, no guarantees about the chee (preds scare me), but I promise you that we won't let things get too dull without you around to spice things up
I'm hitting the hay. Good night, you wonderful people!
Nice. I'm planning on either 3,500 km East to New Brunswick (probably not, but I want to see some friends I haven't seen for a while), or 800 km West to go camping in the Rockies. Haven't made up my mind yet.
3,500km on a thumper might be a bit rough, would be a cool bragging point though (I would be impressed)
If I can suggest one thing, try not to do it all the travelling in one day (800km would be like an outer limit for one day, imo). I did my trip in one day and regretted it afterwards lol
Definitely. Going out East is a marathon, even in a car. But if someone can roadtrip a CBR125R, I fail to see what could possibly go wrong on a 500.
Lol you've seen that? That would be hellish I'd think.
A 500 should be okay, as long as you pace yourself. At least I'd think so.
I have to get off for the night as I work in the morning, good chatting about motorcycles for a bit with you.![]()
