My brain is now actively trying to escape through my ear....This is some kind of "grammar joke"
You can theoretically replace the genitive with dative, by saying it differently.
The sentence means:
The Dative is the death of the Genitive.
This is grammatically correct, but not "nice".
The correct-correct version would be:
Der Dativ ist des Genitivs tod
(The Dative is the Genitives' death)
In Swiss German, there is no Genitive at all. We always use the Dative Version.
I mean this works in English too ^^My brain is now actively trying to escape through my ear....

They are still here!Hey... hmm, what's a somewhat common name... Ryan! They're gone! You can come out now!
He's invisible, so you probably won't see him![]()
That actually helps a bit.I mean this works in English too ^^
"This is Thrashy's beer" - "Das ist Thrashys Bier"
(Genitive)
"This is the beer of (the) Thrashy" - "Das ist das Bier von (dem) Thrashy"
(Dative)
Both is correct, but Genitive is shorter ^^
Ack! Police! Where's that Sly Cooper character when you need her?
