Played this board game tonight, and it was really fun: (for 2-4 players)

Ranks up there in my top 10 board games. You go about completing various objectives of planting, growing and eating bamboo, with a cute 'lil Panda Bear. (And a farmer) Not too thinky, but enough strategy to make it a good game for most everyone:

...if ya see this used/cheap, it's a good one!

And on my list, once I get 'furry board game meet night' started...

...I really, really love to hang out, talk, and play games in person, and hope to get a group together. It's a good way to break the ice, too.
Oooh, thats nice! Yeah, I'll take your offer up on that.

I'm not offended, I'm just tired of hearing it. If you're looking for something different, there's plenty of variety out there. My two favourites right now are White Lies and Young Mister. You may also want to check out Lord Huron if you like that 60s rock aesthetic.

the issue to me is that there is, at least by my perception, a proliferation of bubble-gummy type stuff, though even that goes back to the 60s and 70s! And there is certainly a lot of great music out there regardless:D

Probably the 60s. The music changed radically, and so many cool things happened, like people landing on the moon and Woodstock.

Here's a video I'm sure @Guifrog will appreciate:

he's scared @Guifrog's gonna transform him into something:p
(I remember when I was little I reacted the same when I was in the butterfly enclosure at the zoo XD)

On my list of places to see! And I do really love Anderson's tales. I think my favorite one has to be about The Storks, in which there is a family of storks, that nest near the chimneys, and as the mother stork teaches the little storks to fly, the storks are bullied by these neighborhood boys, and one is particularly mean, hurling stones, and such: but the mother storks forbids the little storks from diving at them, and attacking, and the mean boy continues to be mean, and when the storks fly south and then return the next year, they have grown strong, and it is time for them to deliver babies to the village (as storks do), but to the family of the mean boy, they deliver a dead baby, and so, he has no brother. There is something stirring in the simple yet rather profound nature of his works, the strange and at times brutal workings of fate.

I think this attitude can also be seen in Blixen's work, to a degree, and it makes me curious as to other Danish authors. (was an English major/writing/world/American lit)

Oof, that's surprisingly brutal:confused: Yeah, those kids were being nasty dickheads, but the response seems pretty disproportionate!! XD
It really is! Have wanted it for ages, and found it used, at a thrift store, for $5. Oh, happy day : P

It's a great game to play with people who aren't die-hard board-gamers, but also one that has just enough strategy to keep it exciting...and it goes at a nice speed. Some other games of a similar "easy to learn/fun to play" sort would be:

-Carcassonne
-Splendour

...and they take little setup. Games that I also like, but take somewhat longer to learn/set up, would be:

-Stone Age
-Catan

...but all good ones for a gaming night : )

Do you have any games ya like to play? I love a game that plays well, but also, am a sucker for nice art, and a cool theme.

Ooh, I've been playing GOT monopoly with my mum and it's been very fun! I really like the pieces, I usually pick the wolf for obvious reasons:p

Butterflies are beautiful!

They deserved it!

@Simo, you know of Catan? Very popular game, that one was...gone through many versions as well. Apparently the Germans are good at this boardgame business.

Yep! I like a lot of these sorts of 'Euro Games'---the Germans do seem to be good at making them.

And I like the aspect of sitting down to play them, and just the way it feels; relaxed, social, easygoing.

So often, people can become tense, crabbed and border upon a misanthropic reclusivity.

They're a good antidote to that.

...righto, let's get on this.
I used to do boardgame testing for different wargame companies. I had a hobby shop back in the 80s. I have broken many a board game designer's heart by telling them their design was fatally flawed. One guy had spent $3000 for a booth at a Gen Con. I felt bad for him that his space game had a super basic design flaw in the board that cound not be corrected. I also broke his combat syatem and made his exploration goals worthless. It's better to find out before you go into actual production though. I can give this project some thought as well. Perhaps have intransitive "powers" that make the game circularly imbalanced... kind of like Magic the Gathering when it first came out. Creature A is better than creature B is better than creature C which is better than creature A concept so that no one creature dominates kind of thing. With MTG, each color has a weakness for a different other color.

Yeah! There is the Monarch Butterfly Biosphere Reserve which is considered a World Heritage Site where millions or even billions of Monarch butterflies come to stay and settle during all of the Winter and Spring. It must be all great and beautiful to see all the Monarch butterflies in the forest, a truly magical experience.

Maybe one day we could visit there.

There has to be a strategy for it. Maybe a board. If you make it like a card game, it will end up like the old game, War and be really boring with players just card turners.
