Predators and Prey

Skunks are trying to take over Germany and France?

Don't worry! This is the very reason we took over Australia:p

The Jura Mountains arent too high, they're very forested. So I guess they would be a perfect place :)
And you can find magic mushrooms at Jura cowfields :p

I've tried to look up the skunk population in Germany, but couldn't find anything besides some single caught ones, that where usually exhausted. If there was a population, they'd probably get shot down due to "not belong" there.
Although they don't do that with racoons, which theoretically also don't "belong" to Europe.

There are some breeders nowdays of course.

Anyways, I've already made that area my skunk area. Foxes have to pay taxes and deers have to watch them :p

Yeah, I think the concept of native vs non-native species somewhat flawed.

Gah, I protest this tax!!!

That will follow us too one day, you'll see :D

I mean I understand it as soon as it endangers other species. But I can't imagine that skunks would do harm. Expect for some sprayed foxes :p

Here's a picture of the Jura mountain area, taken at the Doubs River in the French speaking part of Switzerland:

At some way, the Doubs river marks the border between Switzerland and France.

I've been hiking there once. Very beautiful nature, they call that region "the Canada of Switzerland" ^^

And in this region, they have a very good brewery, one of the best in Switzerland! :p

I only accept beer as payment :D
Gah! Stop posting gorgeous pictures!
You're going to make me uproot my life to go travel again!

And you'll have to wait for the preds to win again so I can collect my beer stipend.

Oh, I agree, but the story is usually not as clear cut as it is often presented.

Nope, we'll send the emus after you skunks:p

Of course not everything here is beautiful. There's also the City of Zürich :p

But I think Zurich looks pretty!:)
Ok that's kinda because people outside Zürich usually don't like it :D

It is the biggest city, and so it has a lot of arrogant people. And everything there is expensive ^^

Here are some REALLY nice towns, that probably won't even mentioned at tourist offices ^^

Neuchatel:

Ascona:

Wow, those are all amazing...the US has little to compare, with any of these!!! Well, nothing nearly as old, to be sure.

Also, are those palm trees, in the one photo? I had no idea palms would grow, in such a clime. Perhaps they are in huge pots???

Ah, I see! So I guess it's a bit like the New York or London of Switzerland (the residents and tourists love it, but the rest of the country hates it:p)

Wow, those look extremely pretty!!!:):)
Reminds me a bit of looking up all the British towns which look far prettier than London but are completely overshadowed!

They say to find the best place to vacation, look at all the destinations in the Lonely Planet, and then go literally anywhere else :p

Those towns are stunning.. wonder how much it would cost to travel there and still have fun? My motorcycle traveler friends talk Europe(esp the north) up to be one of the most expensive parts of the world to tour. Is it actually any worse than the US?

And here we have the reason for that ^^
Some of these buildings are over 500 years old.

I think you mean Ascona.
This is in the very south of Switzerland, in the Italian speaking part. The climate there is subtropical so there's palms :)

Haha exactly :D

Although most tourists go to Lucerne ^^
And then to the alps of course :p

I've heard too that Scandinavia is very expensive. And so is Switzerland :/

Although that always depends from what you want. If you don't mind camping, then you might be able to not need to spend too much money. Food's definitively more expensive than for example in Germany though.
