(also, I have a rough idea what lo-fi is, as a 'genre', though maybe not as clearly as I might...and certainly some things I like are purposefully or coincidentally lo-fi: Brian Eno, Daniel Johnston, &c.)

Lofi as I think of it is some variety of relaxing music with a beat cheaply placed on top (it's probably more encompassing than this.) There's tons of it on YouTube like what I posted. I'm addicted.

Love a good sprinkle of something more intense though when I need mental energy. Video game music (and covers) I'm convinced is literally designed for that!
