Have been watching The Great British Baking Show here, one of those cooking elimination shows in which a bunch of Britons have assembled in the quaint gardens of some or other pretty country manor, and are holding a baking contest. It's paced a good deal differently than US shows of the same ilk; more relaxed, and not nearly as cut-throat; very eye-catching baked goods, and it seems to amusing to see so much chatter over various cakes, breads, buns, biscuits, rolls, puddings and pastries. Not being a huge TV watcher I do sometimes watch food shows, so long as they don't have ads...and given all the time at hand, it's something fairly relaxing...and it's given me some baking ideas.
