Predators and Prey

Today was just a busy day for me! My aloe plant (I named him "Alex". Don't judge me!) is currently fighting some kind of infection, so I had to do some plant surgery and amputate the infected leaves. I've been taking care of him for about 21 months, and he's huge!

After I did all that I could for him, I noticed that some of my other plants (I'm currently growing cucumber, carrots, bell peppers, and tomatoes) had a mold problem with their soil. So I had to replace the soil and everything!

On the bright side, my baby carrot (Karen :p) that has been growing for about 7 months (I just can't bring myself to eat her lol) seems close to flowering :D
Needless to say, I'm tired. Competitive Overwatch awaits, though!
You name your plants? Hehe! Just like me with some plants I've had in the past. Glad you had a busy day helping your plants. Good luck with them and I hope they recover soon!

Yeah, it didn't feel right calling them "baby carrot plant", so I started giving them names that begin with the same sound as what plant they are. Karen for carrot, alex for aloe, and even though it sounds weird, alexia for Alex's sprout! I was very confused about whether I should give him a female name since he grew a little sprout beside him, but I just figured I'd leave it as is lol. Thank you very much for the luck :D

Aw! Have you ever grown watermelons? What would ya call a watermelon? :D

(It is a bit too cold here for them to do really well; if I started them inside, I'd have a chance, but they really like a warmer climate)

True! I could actually see the connection with Alex and your Aloe plant. It makes sense, you are very creative! You are welcome! I know your plants will keep growing with you and your good care.

Gosh, it is slow here!

I guess everyone is out at their local Savings Skunk™ store, stocking up on provisions.

All Frisky-Fresh™ Fruits are 50% off, including Mischief Mangoes, Shenanigan Strawberries and Rascally Raspberries.
Yep, this was basically my day. I actually did buy a mango because of you guys last night, along with some pineapple and a big papaya ^^
I ran errands on my own, and then went back out and grabbed a few more things with a friend. Could only find one single roll of paper towels but I should be set for awhile otherwise ^^

I'd call it Walter :p I tried to grow watermelons for awhile in TN and I think I got a couple but the terrapins liked them more

@BreyoGP, please start a YouTube channel where your plants play roles in a sitcom.

Hmm, I think Wallace (Wally for short) might make a cute watermelon plant name :D

And, yeah, I see what you mean! I'm almost your neighbor in terms of states of the U.S., so we have pretty similar climates right now (except I don't really have any influence aside from Lake Erie from the 4 great lakes). I heard that watermelons are pretty difficult to grow, but I might give it a shot whe I move out and get a house of my own (even though that's kind of a long time coming). It's like the weather just flips a coin and there's a 50/50 chance that it sleets or rains or is super windy, or it's just a perfect sunny day with a gentle breeze :/

Thank you for that lovely compliment! They're my little green buddies, so I feel like I should at least give them each a name (if I don't plan on eating them, because I don't wanna get attached, hehe). Pip is fond of them, too! he likes to chew on Karen's leaves every now and then lol. I hope you're right :)

Also, @FlannelFox, I'll give that idea some thoughtful consideration ;)

I should get art of Queen Skittles dressed elegantly for battle and riding a romba to war.. This kinda silliness just appeals to me..

That's a good point- eating something you named and babied would be.. traumatic.

The sitcom could work something like the Secret Life of Pets- what kind of mischief do houseplants get up to when we leave for the day?

Now surrender. The Queen is here to win!

Hail our lord and overfloof!

That sounds fun, I'm tempted to draw that myself xD

Ah, that's a nice name! Very cheery. It's a bit cooler up here, but similar; maybe 1 or 2 USDA hardiness zones, farther north, than there?

Also...getting sleepy here; will be on tomorrow again.

I was thinking that with this virus thing, maybe it'd be fun to have a kind of PvP party on the thread, and see how many furs we can get, from regulars, to those who posted more in the past, to new folks...and maybe do it near a time when time-zones overlap, so more furs are up. Nothing formal; just a bit of social silliness in times that are not quite as social, otherwise.

Night for now!

I know, rennet is horrible >.<
That stuff is what causes vegans

I knocked over a shelf in a paint store :(

I hauled water, hot gas, got mail/sent mail, did laundry, and got groceries today. I feel accomplished, but icky from having been in public

Sorry, I hope these flowers will calm you down

Indeed, green-hatted one:D

Hmm... I smell of hay, not bacon! I'm not sunburnt at the moment :p

Well, aside from photosynthesizing... maybe they pull themselves out of the soil and go exploring in the house? I do see soil on my carpet every now and then, and I'm almost certain I didn't cause it! I could be too drowsy in the morning and out of sorts that I get dirt everywhere when it comes time for plant maintenance. I basically have the vacuum cleaner in my room 24/7 XD

Good night!
