Night @DRGN Juno :)

(Just checked the disk space used by my 365 challenge so far...
8.74GB....
...and that's just the last backup I did about a week ago, there is more on the main HDD now.)
I've had to replace my 4TB disks in my NAS with 6TB disks (the NAS doesn't support more than two of these), as I've ran out of memory a few months ago xD

I keep having to dump most of my working files to a pair of externals (good backup practice) because I keep filling the main drive.
:D

A good backup is key!
You'll only notice, how good your backup is, if you need to restore something xD

Hence two!

I was pretty terrified a few months ago. I'd been trying to pull files of a HDD with a corrupt boot sector for my dad and I just unplugged my storage hard drive (I run Windows on a separate drive so if it dies it won't touch my main files). I finished and went to plug my normal drive back in....
Nothing.

Oh s*it.

Turns out I'd caught the data cable with my foot while it had been plugged in and switched on and shorted the cable out, one new cable later and I was back in business.
:)

Oof, moments like these can really make one sweat xD

I have all my files on a NAS with a RAID 1 (mirrored HDDs). And since I know the most important RAID rule:
A RAID is not a Backup!!!
I backup these files to a second NAS ^^

Might be a bit oversized for private usage, but losing my files would be a catastrophe for me.

I know what you mean.
One of my externals is kept in a fire-proof safe, the other is by my bed so in the event of a fire I can grab it and run.
It's a same with the hard copies of my drawings, they're in a box by the window so I can (if I have time) just open it and throw the whole lot into the garden and collect it later.

This is actually not a bad idea :)

There's something reassuring about physical copies. When I worked in libraries, there was a great zeal in digitizing things, especially Journals, but this has since been met a greater willingness to admit the importance of still maintaining enough physical, print collections, as the access to digital copies is in fact more precarious than first thought, and subject to many things making them hard/impossible to retrieve.

And as far as art goes, the jury is out with me, as far as computer generated art goes; it seems OK for illustrative purposes, but I can't say it's a medium I'm at all fond of, in and of itself.

I'm at my parents' now, in the countryside. We've decided to stay together, and they're both docs in their +60's. Lots of birbs, crickets at night, I missed those so much

Oh, that sounds idyllic! Am also way up north, in the county here; lots of bird noises, and coyotes in the distance, at night. (and the stars are very bright; no light pollution to mute them here)

That sounds nice! I'm happy that you're getting to see the countryside of life :)
I take it that you normally live in a city/town, then?
It's a bit cold for crickets right now in the Northern part of the USA, but I've still got the joy of watching the sunset over the fields and the fun of exploring the little patches of forest here and there. I wouldn't give up the country life for anything :D
