F A C T from Russian history No. 1. The execution of Prince Igor.
In 862, the Novgorodians called on Prince Rurik from the North to reign with them, after him was Prince Oleg, after our stupid hero Prince Igor. In Russia, it was decided that periodically the prince goes around his lands and conquers them again, because people simply did not know who was in power now. In 945 this prince decided to collect tribute from the Drevlyans, they gave him. But before leaving, he wanted to collect more money and, in addition, let go of most of his army, because he thought that he could take tribute with a small army, but the Drevlyans attacked him, killed his army and executed him. They tied him to a bent tree and let go of the tree; the prince was torn in two.

After Prince Igor, his wife Princess Sophia began to rule, who dealt with the Drevlyans very cruelly. She also introduced taxes in Russia. After her was Prince Svyatoslav, who had three sons: Yaropolk, Oleg, Vladimir. Yaropolk killed Oleg, Vladimir killed Yaropolk. After Vladimir baptized Russia in order to strengthen his position in power, because with an unfamiliar religion, the only thing people can trust is the prince. Christianity was profitable because of bad relations with Byzantium and the Pope offered not very favorable conditions.
There are many cute images of Princess Olga on the Internet, but this is the best.
