That's a great movie. I love how the bureaucracy thing just comes out of nowhere :D
Yeah, I wish they'd still make movies in thst style today! Not the biggest fan of computer animation

Don't get me wrong it's impressive what they can do with CGI but I think hand drawn still has a charm all its own.
:)

This ^^
I don't hate CGI. But as you've said, hand drawn has such a nice charm :)

Same here. Computer animation just doesn't have the same personality. :/
Yeah ^^

I think the first appearance of CGI in animation were
- the clock mechanism inside Big Ben in Basil The Great Mouse Detective
- and the ballroom in Beauty And The Beast
Right, in high-profile films and such. I think the first CGI in general was done during all the way back in the sixties. There was the experimental "Hummingbird" and... some other stuff? Those were pretty crappy compared to the stuff we have today, though :D

Oh, and I think the first high-profile animated film to feature CGI was actually Golgo 13. If i recall correctly.

And I still prefer hand-animated stuff. Just look at what happened to The Simpsons when it went CGI. It became so soulless. :( Although that might not be the best example, you can do impressive stuff with CGI if you put the work in.

I see you there! You were no match for my rat perception! >:3

I'm a huge proponent of "don't blame your tools." There are ways to bring CGI to life, and there are ways to bung up hand drawn animation.

Take this shameless plug for Beastars. It's rendered in 3D, which seems to catch a lot people by surprise.

This is a pretty good look in the studio that animates it, and the techniques they used.

I hear you. I suppose my problem with CGI is that it makes it really easy to half-assedly mass produce animation with minimal effort, but that's hardly the CGI's fault.

I'm holding back on Beastars the animation, because I want to read the manga first. Once I find the time... :p

The anime sticks to the manga pretty well, with a couple of exceptions (one drama club scene in particular) and occasional problems with pacing. For an adaptation, the animation style suits it perfectly. It doesn't detract from the storytelling and lets the studio do more.

And yes, it's very easy to end up with Cats or the deer attack in The Ring 2: Electric Boogaloo if you're lazy. But then again, both of them had even bigger problems than just lazy animators.

That's the problem with some modern anime...they use 3D animation as a shortcut to not put in effort in animating, let's say, dragons.

That's a laziness issue. If you don't wanna draw a dragon (for some twisted reason), you're not gonna draw a dragon regardless of what medium you're using.

Speaking of lazing around, I'm going to bed now.

Good to hear! I'm looking forward to it.

DRAGON: *rams snout into ground for some reason* Ouch.

I don't know UK geography, but I'm guessing that's nowhere near wherever @A Minty cheetah is?
CH33 area is about 28 miles away by road, probably around 20 miles as the crow flies, so it's actually pretty close! The "CH" postcode is found around the Chester area, and Chester is the county town for my county!

Not sure how this conversation started (just checking the notification) but in the year 2033 the following car registration number will be available: "CH33 TAH"
It fits the current standard layout for a UK car registration.
