I didn't want to say anything, but when you were talking about the world back there, you sort of tacitly admitted that you think that the whole honor thing is a losing struggle. You were like "let's listen to our elders and bring honor into the world" but then immediately afterwards you were like "but let's have government and laws and property rights because otherwise people will do evil stuff". That's exactly what I was saying. That people will do evil stuff no matter what. And that's why you should be nice, in the sneakiest, and cleverest, and opportunistic-est, and subtlest, and rattiest way possible! And sort of... nudge the world along, with a gentle, cunning paw. Jutting your muzzle and striding around just means that every evil thing sees you coming, and scurries into hiding, and comes back as soon as you have moved on. I know what I am talking about! If you want to change the world, you have to be sneaky and patient about it! Lurk, and wait for opportunities to be nice. And then do nice stuff. But be really clever about it.

And don't commit fully to anything, ever. Be free to choose what to do, always, whether it is joining a rat horde and really biting something, or doing sneaky stuff really out-of-sight, or letting others push you around on purpose, or deciding that what everyone is doing is stupid and just wandering off. Always keep the initiative, if you can. Otherwise you might as well not live at all. And probably won't, because you'll get eaten.

And you are wrong about this dominance check too. It isn't a contest, it's... a way to find your place. And tacitly, a way for other rats to find their place, in relation to the rats doing the check. It's there for the losing rat as much as it is there for the winning one. It's supposed to be a subtle, comforting thing, not... whatever human nonsense this is. What we are doing now is just... two rats staring at each other.

...I think. ...I think I'm going to give up on you now. The other animals made okay rats, but apparently humans don't. You're too different. Too overt. Bye.
