I think there are actually some interesting similarities between the Southern and Australian accents, such as elongated vowel sounds and the r dropping (r dropping is hardly unique in the English speaking world, it's a defining feature of British standard English, but apart from many African Americans it only exists in pockets of North America, specifically the coastal Northeast and parts of the South. Apparently it used to be much more widespread in the South, and r dropping amongst African Americans is probably a retention of this.)

Interesting facts you have there! :)
Does this look like the face of mercy to you?!

I think it's a little more widespread than you show. It's pretty common in Memphis (extreme southwest Tennessee). It is also common where I used to live in Charleston, South Carolina, which is just above that bottom right red dot.

It's my 3 A.M. guinea pig playtime time...
The little turd wouldn't stop chewing on his cage, no matter how many times I said, "Pip!" in an angry voice that usually deters him, so I guess I'll be interrupting my sleep for a half-hour floortime session :/
He was so happy to get even more floor time out of me then I usually give him daily and he was popcorning non-stop and wheeking, so I can't be mad at him :p

How's everyone's night/morning/insert-time-of-day-here?
