Hmm, I haven't done a Rock and Metal fact for a while, and since this is The last day before I start community Service, why not do one? ^^
AC/DC Album Covers
You may think that something simple as an album cover might not give you enough to talk to. But that's wrong with AC/DC albums, especially in the Bon Scott era.
The thing is:
In Australia (where the band got founded in 1974), the albums were released under the label "Albert Productions". Internationally, they were released under the label "Atlantic".
Some albuma didn't even have the same Tracklist, even when they had the same name.
So let's start with their first album, "High Voltage".
This is the Australian release:
And this is the tracklist:
A1 Baby Please Don't GoWritten-By –
Broonzy*
A2 She's Got Balls
A3 Little Lover
A4 Stick Around
B1 Soul Stripper
B2 You Ain't Got A Hold On Me
B3 Love Song
B4 Show Business
And here's the international release:
Tracklist:
It's A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n' Roll) 5:10
The Rock 'N' Roll Singer 5:00
The Jack 5:50
Live Wire 5:45
T.N.T. 3:30
Can I Sit Next To You Girl 4:06
Little Lover 5:26
She's Got Balls 4:46
High Voltage 4:18
Now this is an almost completely different tracklist. You may ask yourself: where do these songs come from? Did they go to studio twice, for each release?
Well, not exactly. These tracks come from their Secons release, "T.N.T."
Well at least in Australia, because the album "T.N.T." has never been internationally released, so it's Albert Productions only:
Tracklist:
A1 It's A Long Way To The Top (If You Wanna Rock 'N' Roll)
A2 The Rock 'N' Roll Singer
A3 The Jack
A4 Live Wire
B1 T.N.T.
B2 Rocker
B3 Can I Sit Next To You Girl
B4 High Voltage
B5 School DaysWritten-By –
C. Berry*
So a pretty chaotic start for this band. But it doesn't end here. Their second album (internationally), and third Album (in Australia), was called "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap".
Here again we have two different covers, and a slightly different tracklist:
Australia:
A1 Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap
A2 Ain't No Fun (Waiting Round To Be A Millionaire)
A3 There's Gonna Be Some Rockin'
A4 Problem Child
B1 Squealer
B2 Big Balls
B3 R.I.P. (Rock In Peace)
B4 Ride On
B5 Jailbreak
International release:
A1 Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap 3:46
A2 Love At First Feel 3:05
A3 Big Balls 2:39
A4 Rocker 2:46
A5 Problem Child 5:43
B1 There's Gonna Be Some Rockin' 3:14
B2 Ain't No Fun (Waiting Round To Be A Millionaire) 6:51
B3 Ride On 5:47
B4 Squealer
Now their third album (internationally), and fourth (in Australia) was called "Let There Be Rock". Here they finally used the same tracklist, but still different covers.
Australia:
International:
Tracklist on both:
Go Down 5:20
Dog Eat Dog 3:30
Let There Be Rock 6:12
Bad Boy Boogie 4:29
Problem Child 5:50
Overdose 6:03
Hell Ain't A Bad Place To Be 4:20
Whole Lotta Rosie
The next release, "Powerage" finally used the same cover for both versions:
Tracklist for most versions:
A1 Rock 'N' Roll Damnation 3:35
A2 Down Payment Blues 6:20
A3 Gimme A Bullet 3:00
A4 Riff Raff 5:14
B1 Sin City 4:40
B2 Next To The Moon 3:15
B3 Gone Shootin 4:05
B4 Up To My Neck In You 4:58
B5 Kicked In The Teeth 3:45
There are some releases that also include the song "Cold Hearted Man".
So you think they started to use the same covers now? Nope

The next album, "Highway To Hell" has different covers again, though the same Tracklist for all versions.
Australia:
International:
Also, Highway To Hell is the only AC/DC album that was released in the GDR, under the Amiga label.
And of course they used get another version ^^
(Maybe the cover looked a bit too rebellious for the communist government?)
GDR version:
So yeah, here you go. As a record collector, it's fun searching for all these different versions, but especially the Australian releases can be very expensive.
