Just been having fun with Google maps.
(Since travel is inadvisable at the moment I'm doing it digitally)
I'm just looking at the Chesapeake Bay area and have found the wonderfully named Bloodsworth Island, just north of the less terrifying Smith Island. (I have this image of the the Bloodsworth pirates trolling the Smith pirates quite hard.)
And on shore there is the delightfully named Crapo! (I kind of want to visit it now...:D)

It's very pretty, and quite remote down that way; it also takes longer than it looks on the map, to get to southern Maryland. Never went to Smith Island, but it looks quite curious; I wonder why it is called Bloodsworth Island? Maybe a lot of Mosquitoes? :p

One place that's quite nice is Pocomoke City; one can see a cypress swamp there, I think it is the most northerly example of one. (part of the lager marsh area: Great Cypress Swamp - Wikipedia)

Lots of history on that side of Maryland; the underground railroad also ran through the area, so lots of sites relating to that as well, there.

I think I saw something about the railway on the map. I might look into it more.

And yes I am now (painfully) aware of how far apart things are over there.
(A quick walk to the metro station, turned out to be a six mile slog in the burning heat, in the wrong shoes. I did find a UAE dirham so I'll call that a win, and I did get to walk through a fairly nice area.)

Huh! Intelligence reports have come in, refuting this assertion; you are to report to the nearest Spanking Barn...Immediately :p
Simo, now you're just being cheeky with me! My rounded derriere is much too tender for that!

Ohhhhhhh...all right! I'll issue a 'stay of execution', to the Fox Catching squad, until you can round up a pillow. : P

I'd love it if our houses had those colorful roofs in Reykjavík. We pay much more attention to the walls, here; but at the same time, I think there's some charm in the colonial Portuguese style, with all that orange
