Going to make a roasted butternut squash bisque on a cold, rainy night here; first time making this, but I've always loved it.

It will have: buttnernut squash, carrots, onions, vegetable stock, butter, salt, pepper, nutmeg, ginger and some heavy cream. I shall report back.

First step: roast squash!

Random Naval F.A.C.T.

The term ‘Battleship’ stems from the time when naval tactics were evolving into the ‘Line Of Battle’. Ships that were put into the ‘Line Of Battle’ were classed as ‘Ships Of The Line’. This was shortened to ‘Liners’. However with the arrival of the passenger liner, this term was dropped to avoid confusion and the second part of ‘Line Of Battle’ was taken up instant giving us the ‘Battleship’.
Later the heaviest units of this class were nicknamed ‘Dreadnoughts’ after the ground breaking H.M.S Dreadnought which pretty much made every contemporary battleship of the time obsolete overnight.

Butternut Squash bisque is going well, and almost finished:

What happened so far:

1 butternut squash was cut in half, cleaned of seeds, brushed in olive oil, sprinkled with salt, pepper and nutmeg, and roasted for 45 mins; while

1/2 cup onions cooked till tender in a pot with 1/4 cup butter, to which was added 4 cups vegetable stock, 3/4 cup diced carrots, salt, pepper, allspice, bit of ginger...then, the roast squash, scooped out/cut, and cooked a bit more.

~

It's cooling outside, then I'll send it through the food processor, add some cream, heat till not quite to boiling, and serve. Tastes good thus far : )

Roasted or baked? Big difference. I have a gas oven. If I roasted something that long, it would look like charcoal.
