Predators and Prey

Really ratty rat
*yawns* Haha I won'. don't have much appetite in the morning anyway :p
...well, just... warn me out of fairness if you start to get an appetite later...
Don't eat anything he gives you either, unless you're not particularly attached to your species.. *squints at Meta*
Sheesh, such suspicion. When have I even transformed someone into something else recently... oh, it was earlier today, actually. Uh. Nevermind :3

Yeah.

*sighs*
At least you're honest.
Say didn't you serve a stint as a rat for a while?
Not my finest hour, but yes. It all started when a fox shoved me off a tower and I was in such pain I forgot to only ever consume liquid from my personal flask... things went downhill from there

Going to go out, to take a peek at some old cherry trees, that are starting to die out, with a view to cutting 3 or 4 of them, and having a local sawmill cut them into 8 foot boards...which would need to dry for about 1 to 2 years...would be a lot of nice wood for woodworking projects; have never cut and dried wood before, but it's tempting...otherwise, the ants and woodpeckers will get them soon enough! Hate to cut them, but they are nearing the end of their life. And cherry is very nice to work with, and pretty.

Will peek back later!

That's the worst part. I can't decide. When my life was just "slay bad guys, adhere to the code of honor" it was way easier, I can't handle all this internal conflict stuff!

I get it. Life was easier when I was mortal. I used to fight bad guys and deal with confusing politics but now if I even enter the mortal world fully it will unravel the universe and I have to deal with the politics of gods who all want different things and I can't please them all.

Wow, you're keeping busy. By the end of the quarantine, you'll probably have built yourself a new house and landscaped the entire property :3

Are there any rat gods. It there are, I suggest you focus on pleasing them. They sound wise and handsome and comfortable to sleep in a pile with :3

This is a touch and go. How is everyone. I had a rush of print jobs come in today. Yay! 100 paperbacks, two small funerals, a very small church program, and some baby shower cards. I've been up for six hours formatting, compressing, and laying out jobs. I normally don't take this long getting jobs together, but one funeral was messsssed up bad, and I had to go do some digital surgery on it. I have to run in a minute to go pick some supplies up and do the finishing work, so I'll probably see you all in about six hours. *hugs*

If you cut these trees down and don't have them cut into boards, you need to put wax on the ends to keep them from checking while they dry. You can also get boards dried in a kiln if there is one nearby.

Yep, and the sooner the better on sealing the ends, even after cut. I'm not sure about the costs of kiln drying, and so may go the longer air route; but will have to check around. In some places, I've seen rates of about .50/board foot for kiln drying, and at about 500 bf, this wouldn't be at all bad; but will depend on how the wood looks, too, once it's down. But given that cherry hovers around the $6/board foot mark (once planed) it's tempting, if there's a place to do it reasonably.

Though: it'll probably be about a year before I get a woodshop set up, and so by the time it air-dries, it'd likely coincide with this. Right now, I'm looking at planar/jointers, as well as table-saws, as far as stationary tools go. The one end of the garage will also have to be insulated, and walled off, as it'll be freezing in the winter, and, of course, there's also the main workbench. But with the planar/jointer, table-saw, and some smaller tools that I already have (routers, sanders, &c), it'll give me something I can work on doing and hopefully, a way to make some money outside of a formal job.

I also need a ton of shelving for my own use, to house a great number of books, records and other stuff; the idea is to perfect making shelves, boxes, and cabinets to house collectibles, and (eventually) small desks: in essence, things for the study/library/home-office space, that's sturdy. My goal is to be the opposite of Ikea: you don't have to put it together and it doesn't fall apart :p
