On the subject of petrol stations, here in the UK, pump attendants are more or less unheard of. We used to have them up to the late 60's and early 70's but by the 80's they had disappeared.

No pump attendants here in Finland, either, it's all self-serve. Practically everything remotely gas-station related here is self-serve/automated now, actually.
