Suspiciously specific denials are both suspicious and specific.
Woah woah, Dominion is NOT a CCG. It is infinitely superior. In any given Dominion game, both players start with the same cards and have access to the same cards. No pay to win. Much fairer. Anyways, I’m glad you asked! Rats is actually one of the most interesting cards in the game. Most Dominion cards give you obvious benefits, like more money or allowing you to draw cards. But Rats? All it does is eat your cards and multiply.

“+1 card +1 action” means the card is incredibly easy to play. It costed a card to draw it, and an action to play it, but it replenishes both.
“Gain a Rats” is fairly straightforward. Another cool thing about Rats is, while most Dominion cards only have 10 cards in the pile, Rats has 20! Allowing you to gain a boatload of them incredibly quickly!
“Trash” means get rid of forever. Thematically speaking, the Rats are eating your other cards.
If you can’t see where this is going, if you keep playing Rats unchecked, they will eat your entire deck and replace it with a deck full of Rats that doesn’t do anything except draw every Rats and gain you the rest of the pile.
So why would you want to brutalize your deck with Rats? The key lies in the below line text and the big “4” on the bottom left. Rats allows you to take your crappy cards that cost 0 or 2 (like Copper, Curse, or Estate) and turn them into a crappy card that costs 4. In Dominion, there are some cards known as “trash for benefit”, which let you lose a card in exchange for a big benefit. Often, these cards care about the price of the card they’re trashing. For example, Remodel allows you to trash a card and gain a card costing up to 2 coin more. If you trash a 0 coin Copper with this, you gain a card costing up to 2. If you trash a
Rats with Remodel, you get to draw a free card and gain a card costing up to
6, which is waaaay better. There’s a lot of other cool little synergies you can do with Rats, but this article is long enough as it is.
Rats is actually the creator of Dominion’s favorite card! He loves how quirky it is, compared to the other cards.
Rats is from the “Dark Ages” expansion, which, well, makes sense. I imagine your average furry’s favorite expansion would be the animal themed “Menagerie”, which I suppose Rats would have fit in just as fine.
Does this count as my episode of “FACTS”?
