I wonder, why is it that more real-time things like IRC are more likely to distract me? Maybe it’s the time-sensitivity component, like: “If I don’t reply to this person within a minute, then that facet of the conversation will be over”, or even worse: “The reply that I spent 5 minutes typing has been invalidated by the conversation moving on, and it would be awkward to bring it up...”, compared to Discord, which has a slightly less time-sensitive atmosphere, or to these forums, which, as long as you respond within a day, it’s fine.
Anyway, I’ve managed to secretly add a feature to my IRC bot that allows me to private message it something to say, and I’ve “explained” it as GPT-3-based natural language processing. I’ve also used GPT-2 to make it extend messages, but it’s not an automatic thing, I’m still the one inputting the original message into Transformer, generating the extended message, and pasting the original message and extension into the bot’s messaging system.
I have plans to make it appear “sentient”, and this should be a good prank, with the excuse of “processing time” to explain my typing speed!
I’ve also gotten back into Minecraft, no longer in Peaceful mode, which is far more stressful, but probably a good idea!
That’s my nocturnal message over!
