Whilst I would mostly agree, adopts can be handy/fun.
I had a character, but no design in mind, so I got a freebie from here.
And seeing a blank slate character can fire up the creative process, someone had a rather cute character up for sale, and after thinking about it for a few days my 30's adventuress was born, a character I wouldn't have thought of otherwise.

i don’t recommend mammoth... although out of context i have never tried it so i have no idea what it tastes like

Honestly, I feel that nowadays it is a lot more common for an adoptable to be mass produced just for sale/auction. Kinda annoyed about the constant flood of adoptables that comes from that, actually.

I agree. Although I did buy one adoptable just for fun, as a sort of a blank slate, and then play an AI Dungeon game as her, treating that crazy adventure as her backstory. That was surprisingly fun, actually :3
