My apologies if I’m using the red ink instead of the customary blue for weekend entries. I think the blue was darker, but I’m not entirely sure.

It’s been a mere day since I slew @ssaannttoo the Leafeon in combat. Since, I’ve returned home and discussed the curse the despicable @Foxy Emy placed upon my head with the finest clerics willing to work with a non-human (that is to say, the black market ones). Even their wily ways couldn’t see any offhand cures for my affliction. The first day of fasting was easy, as I was under the impression it would be the last. Alas, the evil god of creation spoke the truth (for once). I shall need divinity to undo this.
I always prided myself on not indulging in hedonism. Mere bread and cheese would suffice for me. Little did I know how much pleasure I took in them. I almost absentmindedly began to make breakfast before my hopes of relief from the morning hunger were crushed. I ate anyways (to stave off the hunger pangs), but there was no joy. I fear there will be little joy in my immediate future. Sure, duels are great fun, but what’s the point if I can’t laugh about it with my fellow duelist over a meal afterwards?

Then there’s the elephant in the room. As you know, I’d adopted Ssaannttoo as a surrogate son (much to my great regret now), and now I’ve slain him.
I still insist he deserved it, but now that the heat of combat has died down, I’m plagued with doubts. Was “you got me” really surrender? And even if he did violate the sacred code, and I had every “right” to kill him, should I have? Was I really motivated by righteous honor... or pride and anger? Did the wound to justice drive me to hurt him... or the wound to my arm? Was Ssaannttoo really of sound mind to challenge me to a duel to the death? Could I not have just swallowed my pride and refused, despite the dishonor of submission? What’s the point of honor, if it leads to... this?
I’m forced to conclude that it likely wasn’t honorable. Ssaannttoo was mostly innocent. At the very least, I should’ve “cooled off” before deciding to kill him, to make sure I was of sound mind and making the correct decision.
And that’s another thing: I DIDN’T decide to kill him, it was ultimately an accident! Not that the “god of creation” cared in the slightest about my intent. I bet someone could trip and accidentally hit someone else on the way down, and she’d be all like “I SMITE THEE FOR THINE EVIL DIE DIE DIE”. Some “justice”.
To be absolutely fair, I didn’t exactly use that as my first argument to avoid smiting. But gods should really ere on the side of mercy, for cases like this.
Unlike me...

I set off today, in search of more just and righteous divinity who will recognize my unimpeachable honor for what it is and give me some relief. I have all the time in the world to succeed.

*sets down quill, sniffs candle. Nothing.*
