Because role playing is meant to reflect reality, or reality as it might be. You’d be a poor storyteller if you told stories with little bunnies who never have any conflict or suffering and where nothing ever goes wrong.
Very true.
When roleplaying as myself I would never want to write as being in pain or discomfort as I like to roleplay to distract myself from what ails me.
But OTHER characters that aren't myself, oh boy do I make them live through hell. Makes me feel better about suffering.

What if you wrote about yourself being in pain or discomfort, but it ultimately working out for the better? That’s realistic, and potentially comforting.;
