Well it’s a good thing I actually live in an adjacent town with a significantly lower cost of living!

Same here, and I've been checking for apartments in my town. Just to have an idea, there was an unfurnished one with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom for R$600,00/mo. That's roughly US$110/mo
