Wow, that's ludicrously bigger than the ones I've seen before. You think it makes for a decent substitute for chocolate when we run out of it?
Really? I didn't know ours were that big, though I was aware there are many different species of sapote.

I'm not quite sure about that. Yes, they do taste like chocolate, though it's a very mild flavor that some people describe; to me it has always tasted like salted caramel, but not in a overly sweet and unbearable way, rather a natural and fruity flavor. Besides, being a fruit of soft flesh, it would rot fast and wouldn't be able to be stored for much. Still, I would say it makes for a nice smoothie when there's no chocolate around.

Interestingly enough the name here is "Zapote", so we call the fruit "Zapote Mamey", because it originally comes from the Náhuatl "Tzapotl", which is used to describe a sweet fruit and goes more along to the flavor I mentioned.
