(Take something like this:
There are a lot of lines here, and a lot of them overlap in ways that kind of confuse my eyes about where things are supposed to be, forcing me to examine it closely. The piece you just did doesn’t have that (with one exception, being the left hand over the tail), so I can easily tell where and what everything is. To avoid that issue in the future, I’d sketch out the forms in advance, and when one bit of the character is in front of another, don’t sketch the bit behind (as we wouldn’t be able to see it).
Now that I see a de-cluttered piece in your style, it makes a lot more sense to me, making it “better”, so yes.)

(You can erase the bits that are behind other bits if you’re not doing in color. Otherwise, you can make a preliminary sketch to graph out where everything would be, then do a second sketch referencing your first.)
(Yeah, like arms, legs, fingers, heads. Those are different shapes and different forms in space.)
(Less cluttered is better IMHO, but you’re the artist here. If you think something looks better, do that instead of what I have to say.)
