I think it started when I got a CD-ROM with informative songs about monkeys, it was called "The Monkey Secrets" if memory serves me right. Then, there was the Donkey Kong series, which I became a huge fan of, and Diddy Kong (despite the name, he's a spider monkey) was my favorite character to play with. I have a few remixes off the Diddy Kong Racing OST as well. And I live in a land of monkeys - the most notable Brazilian species being the golden lion tamarin:

I didn't own DKR but I'd play it on a friends' Nintendo 64 as a kid and fell in love with it, being able to choose between vehicles and having a lobby to explore by PLANE!!
