Also, I've been playing Blue Dragon on the xbox360. I'm not sure if I like it or not, it's kind of grindy. I like the silly enemy design, but unfortunately the game suffers from "reality is brown" syndrome, as per the worst videogaming tradition of the 2000s. Everything is all browngrey, and it's really starting to grate

Yes, I know! His style is immediately recognizable, especially in the menus and such, where everything is directly by him!
The concept art does not translate to the 3D enemies quite as well as I would like, though, but it's still okay :3

Also, this is one of the games that really would have benefited from the other terrible plague of the 2000s: insane amount of bloom everywhere. The game is so brown and dark that bloom would actually have helped here... so of course it has none

I think its more of Blue Dragons, brown art direction, does not mesh well with Toriyamas work
I think Dragon quest Xi has a good blend and the monsters look good

Its a LONG rpg, but i loved every bit of it. It has that silly dragon ball humor in it

Speaking of tints though, I've wondered why simulation games like Cities Skylines are so blue

At least they are not doing the brown thing any more, but if you absolutely need to have a filter, how about some warm colours for a change?

I feel like it's an exaggeration if it's meant to simulate atmosphere. Specially if the game aims towards realism, the air looks too blue
