(irl plot twist: mine is a debit card that allows me to choose "credit" when paying. When I do, it takes money from my currently available funds, which are below $1000 in USD. The transaction wouldn't be completed :>*Pays using @Guifrog's credit card*
(Not sure, we tend to just have credit or debit cards. The debit card is usually linked to our private bank account so it is reliant on there being funds in the account. Credit cards are linked to the big credit lenders (visa/MasterCard) which need repaying from your personal funds (and heaven help you if you mess up a payment).)(irl plot twist: mine is a debit card that allows me to choose "credit" when paying. Got me curious to learn whether this is common in your countries btw)
Same system exists here, plus the extra quirk I've mentioned depending on the bank. Only downside of having a debit card (in practical terms, for it relies on my private bank account current funds) that can be used like a credit card (Visa/MasterCard applies here too) is the inability to pay with installments, like actual credit cards(Not sure, we tend to just have credit or debit cards. We have to choose "debit" when we are paying directly from account :3(irl plot twist: mine is a debit card that allows me to choose "credit" when paying. When I do, it takes money from my currently available funds, which are below $1000 in USD. The transaction wouldn't be completed :>

Yep, it works the same over here! But we can't choose to pay using the "credit" option, we need to select "debit" when paying for something. You can use a debit card when online shopping as a credit card, though, then it works exactly as you have described. Some debit cards have a separate card number just for online purchases, in fact :3Same system exists here, plus the extra quirk I've mentioned depending on the bank.
