Waluigi Land was a very sad place. It was the site of most of Luigi’s childhood, and Luigi had his fair share of heartbreak there. He didn’t want to go back. But his best friend Charizard had been with him, so he knew he had to at least try. To be honest, the thought of seeing his childhood home didn’t make him happy. It didn’t make him feel like anything was different, and it didn’t even make him feel like he wanted to go back. He just felt like he wanted to go somewhere new, and that’s why he and Charizard went to New York.

There, at least royalty and city have been spared. And he went on an adventure with a Pokémon fren~

Having reached New York, Waluigi and Charizard have a lot of fun, as usual. Once inside the hotel, they decide to hang out with the team on the roof, as they usually do. When they get back down, they find Luigi sitting in his room. Luigi tells them that he wants to quit. Waluigi and Charizard tell him that he can't just leave them, so he needs to do something for them.
Waluigi tells him that he is going to play tennis against a trainer from the tournament. "What can I win?" asks Luigi.
Waluigi replies, "You can win my heart! My heart is full of love for you, and if you win, I'll be yours forever!"
When Luigi wins, he goes to the top of the tennis court, and Waluigi comes over and thanks him. In the next scene, Luigi and Waluigi are hugging. He shows him a sign on his back, "My heart is full of love for you"

Waluigi loved Luigi. After a nice and fun tennis game, the two started talking and a romance was born. But when Luigi went to hug his love, he bumped into a tree and got injured. That was enough to turn the tables for Luigi, and he decided to be with Waluigi. This is what happens when you have an injured love.

Therefore, if you love somebody and wants them to love you back, they should bump into a tree in your way!
