I mean ofc fanarts and songs are untouched and even encouraged I'd say? (I say it because, even the G4 creatoress(also Power puff girls' btw) has a Ponysona of herself, popularly called Fausticorn in the fandom <3)

but by the toy brand itself there have been some interesting cases tbh
for example Friendship is Fighting the game and The Adventures of Button Mash a fan animated series, both were Slapped and Stopped on a 90% by hasbro
the game.. I don't remember but I think they either sued them or just gave them an ultimatum and they had to stop the original (free) game development with the show characters and it impulsed them to instead make an entirely original line of OCs for a "new" or revamped game Them Fightin' Herds

some of them which of course, still have mlp inspiration, for example the little cow is inspired on applejack

while TAoBM is a fan Webseries which featured a Background pony form the series, the first Pilote episode is still online, but I've heard that they or Stopped the development of the series, or even deleted episodes but I don't remember, I think it was the first
the "series" is just so FUNNY hahaha
I recommend it giving it a watch!

I mean I think the main reason was such a PERFECT show's style animation and everything, but yeah :0

other projects such as Don't Mine At Night a pony parody of a minecraft parody of Katy perry with button mash again, are still up though :3)

As for the remixes, I'm not sure if there's much more to it than what you learn while composing original songs. I like to add original melodies and harmonies to expand on the original tracks, as long as it is still recognizable, and at the same time includes my personal touch. But this is just me, possibly there's an influence from OC ReMix on that regard, but one is free to interpret songs as they wish~

I really like what Iceferno does with some classic Sonic songs though. His tunes are very conservative (as in, they preserve a lot of the original song elements) while making it longer and more... HD, for a lack of better terms.
