Question on Feral Art and the Community

So, I had initially joined here a while back as someone had suggested I look here for commission work. At the time, I wasn't particularly confident in my artistic skills and the fact that everywhere I looked was anthro/humanoid/non-feral artwork/Commission requests, I got discouraged. I think I made one post and that was it. I was much younger then, and didn't think to ask. I just assumed that because that's what majority of that portion of the community was asking for, that was all that was being looked for.

I asked a commissioner of mine recently about where to look for commission work and was, again, directed here. So, I have to ask, is there even a market for Feral/non-anthro work?

I've tried over the years to do anthro/non-feral and I'm just not confident/not interested in drawing it really.

If anyone is interested in what my work looks like (if it'll help answer the question?) you can find it on my Deviant Art

Otherwise, I'd just like to know before I put in a ton of effort only to find out much later that there's really no interest. I don't mind putting in the work to get commissions, if there's more than a snowflake's chance in hell. xD

Anyway, thank you for reading, and I apologize if this is in the wrong forum, this seemed like a logical place to put it.

No there's definitely a large amount of interest in feral works, you needn't worry about that. Granted, the majority of people here like anthro art, but feral art is certainly appreciated and desired.

Thank you. It's easy to get discouraged when you don't seem to fit into a large niche, (such as being able to draw anthro art) but knowing that there is a want for feral art as well, makes me happy.

Thanks again

All of my friends generally get feral art. Mostly because ferals are the best. Anthro scrubs >>
i don't personally get comissions myself, but I do know there is a market. In my eyes, I thought it was pretty big. I think the main issue is getting noticed, getting your name out there. That's an issue any artist will face, feral or anthro. Keep doing what you're doing, mate! I like your stuff. Especially the Banana Lizard sketch. It's too adorable.

xD Thank you~ And really? It's nice to know that the market may be rather large. n-n

Yeah, that sketch is the culmination of years of trying to decide on a design that incorporated "Banana" and "Lizard" into one entity. I'm rather proud of the simplistic design I came up with. xD

On a side note -- You guys are so nice. >_< Thank you

Eh, the whole place isn't a hugbox, but glad to make you feel welcome :) If you draw any 'realistic' style dragons would you mind linking me? Always curious for more.

I don't have any 'realistic' style examples.. I don't think, but I'm gonna PM you for an example of what you mean, perhaps it's something I can do, just not what I've been doing lately. xD

No community is one big hugbox, but it's nice to be made to feel welcome and not get yelled at for asking questions, and you guys have, which makes me happeh.

I love feral art, Its what I enjoyed putting up on my walls (wolves, dragons, etc.) before I started getting anthro art when I found out about furries.

Both, I enjoy alot of art types, so subject matter means less to me than the style

Nice art, guy :p my favorite one's the commission at the bottom of the page (I'm on a tablet so forgive me if I didn't make sense just now)

If I said anything else I'd be repeating what the others already said

G'day

It's neat seeing how much feral art has become a bit more popular over the months, not saying it was never popular but the general interest/demand seems to have upped a bit.
I do feral art myself,I'm still a newbie [2 years] on tablet but I'm getting better and people really enjoy my adopts or anything I draw for them in general so I wouldn't worry about your art not gaining any interest because it's pretty damn cool the Deranger Floof is really cute too.
If you're just stating up on Furaffinity try and grab some attention with some free adoptables/raffles or whatever then work on from there with commissions and stuff
Just seeing your art you shouldn't have any trouble with getting commissions at all.

Really? I didn't know it was on the upswing. n-n
I've been drawing on a tablet for about 12 years. Recently got a new tablet, and my art has improved, since previously I was using an old, old tablet, like 20+ years old, it was a hand-me-down.

Thank you, the Deranger Floof was literally a thing that hopped across my mind in a daydream, and yes, I'm pretty much just starting back up. It's been a few years and I've lost a lot of my old work (thankfully I had some recent examples.)

@Ricky - I'm sorry? o-O

This conversation generally derails into some long-winded circumlocutomastabatory argument which makes a slippery slope to give C, D, E, F... I think it's generally bestiality, people into bestiality arguing it's zoophilia, this spawns a moral debate which is related to pedophiles and the ethical and semantic boundaries of rape. I figured if I call it out now and just drop it, it'll be less likely to happen... But I doubt it. >.<

I dunno, the forum seems a bit different now. Less overly loud people shouting their opinions. You're giving me fucking flash backs, man. Stop ;c

Anywho, animals are cute and stuff. And things. Yeah...
