So I'd just like some opinions on my recent dilemna...

I've proudly stuck by my sona for a couple years, on and off (I don't RP all the time), but the main reason I was happy with the Bakeneko/Nekomata sona I chose, was because it fit well into a long-standing RP group I was a part of. Now that it's disbanded, and I've less time on my hands anyway, I feel... hm, unmotivated with my sona.

Should I switch to something easier? Like just going with a black panther? Or should I stick with what I've known, despite the history that's now been uprooted and the extensive and now-unnecessary ancestry/genetic aspects/powers?

Hi there! Nice to meet another female big cat! I actually started as a jaguar & went more snow leopard.

There's no rule to how many sonas you can have. Since you have the question in mind, keep your original in a safe place, but start developing a new one. Then you have options for when you do decide to rp.

Plus, I think your oc is pretty hawt, actually. (Totally straight, just enjoy a good form!)

I don't know you could try but when I tried to switch fursonas I went back to this one.

I don't know if there's much I can say given I'm trying to navigate a lot of this for the first time, but thinking as a writer it could be the same character in alternate universes? Like you're you, but a basic panther in a "normal" universe but the elaborate fantasy version in fantasy settings?

You can always try another, or blend your ideas!

I have a bit of a similar situation. I created my first character as a wild wolf, but it was on a fantasy rp site, and I discovered people there weren’t too interested. I added a werewolf theme for dark stories. When I started RPing on FA, I started him as a wild wolf, but quickly wanted to have the full interaction that all the humanoid characters in the RP had. So when I came back from a break he came back as an anthro wolf.

This is all a part of me developing Wulf as a fursona, and finding myself here, and finding who I want him to be.

Not sure if I’m typical, but that’s my experience over the last 6 months.

I think maybe she'll just have a hidden past or something? I'm not sure. But then that way, she only appears to people as an anthro panther with an extra tail, lol. Then if I choose, I can get more extensive later? Idk. I'm very against coming off like one of those "oh, you can't kill me, I have SECRET POWERS hahahaha!" ya know?

I would say maybe modify the lore a bit and set your sona free outside the rp group. I love character development stuff myself.

Write it all down, put it somewhere, continue playing with this sona.

Death could always be different for her. Like Alucard from Hellsing. Technically, he can't die. However, he loses his form for a bit until he can get enough energy to manifest.

I know what you mean. But subtlety can be a good thing. You could have her not really change, but since the setting of an RP would be different, only describe the obvious things people can see, and leave the mythology parts to come out in the RP.
