Re-connections with your youth

I was recently re-introduced to what was a small, but seemingly memorable part of my youth. There was a song back when I was around 4-5 that would come on MTV when my brothers were listening to music, and I was positively mesmerized by it. The video hypnotized me, and the melody was addictive. That was all I could ever remember about it though, until my brother during random conversation brought up a song I'd bust out when ever they said it's name. He told me the name and I quickly rushed to the nearest computer to find and listen to it. I fell in love with that long lost part of my childhood once more.

Has anyone else had any recent re-connections with a strong part of their childhood?

Btw, the song was Black Hole Sun by Soundgarden. http://youtube.com/watch?v=qiSkyEyBczU It's silly I'm sure, but it had a big impression on me at the time.

I was practically raised on Late-Night clubber's music from the 80's and 90's

A lot of the more popular radio hits from, "Real McCoy", "CeCe Penniston", etc. resonate a lot with me, because it was during those years that a lot of positive changes where occuring in my life.

I remember jump roping to this music in our School Gym -- or playing Dodge Ball; crunches, push-ups etc. We had this kickass Gym Teacher, his name was Mr. Milhone, this red haired Biker guy from the Broomfield area in CO. He ran us ragged -- but he did this to whatever music we brought in (I frequently remember Chumbawamba's album, Tubthumper).

In other news: I was a Straight A's and B's student in elementary school -- USS Swimmer; lots of cute chicks and boys I thought where the shit at the time on our team. The music below reminds me all of them in positive ways. Plus, that was when a large group of my friends would get together at the center of our Apartment Complex, and have these long drawn out, Gun Wars. I remember a lot of that, because these where the songs I stayed up at night for when I came home from playing; even if it was a school day.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vWgMnubJ4dQ - First heard this single on the way back from a Wyoming Swim Meet -- was apart of the Broomfield Barracuda's at the time, a USS Swim Team. Was like 7 or 8 at the time.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PGRI-HnMN-Y - Remember listening to this at the "Loft", a Youth gathering we had at our Recreation Center. I would usually play Bloodstorm to this music.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnzgNAzquCw - Remember hearing this during the 2nd or 3rd Grade; never saw who Marky Mark was until I was 15.

Course, now, I also reconnect with my younger teenager years too -- heh, but I don't want to spam the thread with my memories. XD Even though, they were a fucking BLAST!

Black Hole Sun is a childhood memory? Wow, you just made me feel REALLY old! LOL

My childhood memory songs are mostly the Bee Gees, who my mom loves. She got a best of cd recently and listening to it in the car I suddenly realized there's a reason I tend to prefer singers with very high pitched voices.

Haha. Well, I'm only 17 so I don't remember listening to the Bee Gees. :p Although my dad did/does listen to the Beatles a lot.

First song I remember hearing was "The Gambler" by Kenny Rogers (back around 1980).
First movie I remember seeing was "Watership Down" (specifically, the scene of Fiver looking into the drain pipe)

Both I still love to this day (though I prefer the book version of WD to the movie, and the book version is my alltime favorite book) and every time I read/hear/see them, I do go back to that time.

I also saw the original Transformers movie the other day and that brought back alot of memories since i used to obessively collect Transformers.

Just a few days ago I heard this song again for the first time in..I think 8-10 years. I still remembered the lyrics too.

Then one day came the old house smasher
The Big Bad Wolf THE LITTLE PIGGY SLASHER

HAHA. FUCK YEAH.

PS: I don't know if this means shit to you or anyone else - but that high-pitched "not by the hair of my chinny-chin-chin" is Maynard James Keenan of Tool, APC, Puscifer, etc.

Metallica has a lot of that childhood feeling. It reminds me of my oldest brother. When he was first young, he began turning an ear towards Metallica, and some other metal. My parents were absolutely pissed.

I remember seeing my dad grounding him for having that devil music.. damn, my brother's awesome. He was in tears. I think it wasn't so much being grounded, but being separated from something he loved - his music.

That, and Guns N Roses. Somehow, I feel like the introduction of rock and metal through my brother into my life at such a young age was the beacon of hope that things would get better.... (just give it a decade) :p

Not too long ago I bought the Sonic Megacollection for my PS2. Major nostalgia.

You can make whatever conclusions about me you want because of this, but this song is nostalgic for me:

(by the way, the video that goes along with it is stupid, I know, but it was the first thing that came up on a search). It reminds me of car trips through the desert way back in the day, when my dad would play it from one of his mix-tapes that were full of weird shit.
Aside from that, all I can think of is video game music. Megaman ftw.

Ahh...so many years ago. This theme is from Yugioh: Dark Duel Stories

A game so old it was a Gameboy Color game. It's mostly forgotten as the GBA came out shortly after its release. I got this game the same month Yu-gi-Oh started airing in the US...man that was so many years ago...my first 3 cards came from this game. Blue Eyes White Dragon, Exodia the Forbidden One, and something I can't remember. I still have the Exodia the Forbidden One (I did eventually get all 5 parts and won duels with them. I kept all my cards for memories sake)

This is still my favorite piece of 8-bit music ever.

Song that makes me feel nostalgic would be: Seal - Kiss From a Rose, http://youtube.com/watch?v=ateQQc-AgEM, I don't even like the song to be honest. Just makes me think about being in my old house and around some of my childhood friends.

And since I've been a big video gamer, I remember playing Final Fantasy II for a long time and never getting very far, but boy was it fun!
