Honestly, what matters isn't "realism" which is almost a misnomer in art, but believability. Something well-drawn/animated will entice your willing suspension of disbelief, and generally the closer you lean to cartoony, the easier that is to pull off. That said, I love when that can be balanced with lots of fine details and attention to anatomy, etc.

I like quality so I lean towards realistic, but I like quality cartoony too. Just unfortunately most cartoony styles look half-assed.

I'd say it depends on the pic. If we're talking about comedic and lighthearted stuff, go with cartoony. If we're talking about dramatic, serious, horrific or pornographic, go with realism.

to me depends on the thematic, the artist, the anatomy and the media
but i feel more tempted to the realistic style
it realy doesnt matter if it's very well drawn or not because every drawing has something to extract from it

I normally prefer realistic, but if its any good, cartoony isn't bad.

I tend to spring for realism or things that are a bit off the beaten path.

Realistic. Toony birds look silly, imo.

How about a little bit of both?

I tend to lean heavily towards realistic, but there are several artists that can pull off cartoony very well.
