Critique: Request feedback for a Fantasy/Yaoi story

Hi. I've been an FA member for quite some time and working on a graphic novel. I've also started writing prose (not for the first time, so I do have some experience with writing) featuring new characters.

The characters are furry... more or less. They're all human/animal hybrids, like fauns/satyrs. The two protagonists are in my FA gallery, a unicorn and dragon satyr. I've uploaded the first chapter, but I've already finished a few more. I plan to upload them slowly one at a time, but it's not too late to make changes.

The story is called The Dragon Who Flew Away. It's a gay romantic fantasy story, with some very mature themes. I don't know if I should make it sexually explicit, but if not then the sex scenes would take place "offscreen" as it were, and the darker themes are mostly implied.

The story is about Cruise, a merdragon, who runs away from an oppressive and abusive family in an underground shelter. Because merdragons are so rare, their existence is being kept secret, until he breaks out and reveals himself to the world. He's rescued by a unicorn professor of dragon studies, called Lance. Lance takes him back with him to the College where he works, and discovers the true extent of the trauma he's suffering.

Meanwhile Cruise's family attempt to find and kidnap him. Male merdragons are rare and often infirtile, so Cruise is needed to repopulate their kind so that they can become numerous enough to live without government protection. This puts Lance and Cruise in a moral dilemma that could decide not only Cruise's fate, but that of his kind as well. As dark secrets are revealed and the world must decide what to do with this group of dragon halfbreeds.

I haven't done this before, so it's an experiment for me. I'd like to know what someone thinks, but I don't know how else to ask for feedback. Especially as it's technically a furry story, no humans whatsoever. I'm hoping to turn this into a full-length novel eventually.
