Anyone else into Shortwave and/or AM DXing? If so, what are you using and what's the furthest station you've received?

I'm running a Tecsun pl600 and a RSP1a SDR on my pc running a 25ft outdoor wire. The furthest station I've received here in Wisconsin was a China Radio International broadcast relayed out of Madagascar. So roughly 9400 miles.

Honestly I don't know. You got me interested in catching some grayline propagation to see what I can find.

Neat on the Madagascar DX. What band was it on?

Had to find my log book. Looks like it was March last year at 21:36 UTC, which would have been e 5:36pm local time. It was actually KNLS World Christian Broadcasting, transmitting in Chinese on 11610khz which would be the 25m band.

As far as making QSO's it would be with Australia & New Zealand DX wise. No voice contacts yet but plenty on digital modes.

100w or less on dipoles.

Which band?

I haven't worked HF yet, mostly just VHF. I'm working on building a field HF QRP setup with my uBitX, but don't have an antenna setup yet.

Lowest was on 40m and think highest on 12m.

Awesome on the QRP setup. Its fun to see what you are capable with it. I ran like that for a couple of years and made some memorable contacts.

What antenna(s) r u thinking for the field?

VHF is fun. Ever chased satellite's?

Currently I'm going to build an inverted V slinky and see how that works out. I just need a center support pole long enough.

I've never done satellite chasing, but I might try to get a yagi set up sometime this summer to get weather satellite data.

It should work just fine. Havent used one but i like that you can easily change its resonance.
