The best and the worst of the fandom

Name one virtue of the furry fandom that makes it a great community.

Name one area in which the fandom at large should work on to improve or become more acceptable.

You can answer this question with regards to the fandom in relation to itself, in relation to non-furries (namely the part of becoming more acceptable), or both. Several answers is good too.

I have a LOT I can name, but I will name one in each category to save headaches.

Best: People.
Worst: People.

Why? Just.......why? It's great because we are a bunch of like minded individuals who love everything "FURRY". It's bad because it seems like dumpster fire starting is "the new thing" and turns Furries against one another. Used to be pretty freaking accepting, now seems a bit judgmental.

The cat's mother.
Best: Interesting, cartoony anthropomorphic animal characters, and the playful, fun-loving adults (who never really grew up) not being afraid to goof around like kids and pretend to be animals.
Worst: The sad fact that any furry art is given more attention if it is pornographic, even if it is of lower quality than "clean" art.

But the clean art is good too.

Best? Lots of young talented artists.

Worst? Literally everything else, particulary the sexual side, with NSFW furry Discord servers being the centerpiece of that shitshow. So much art theft, so much drama, so much pedophilia, so much general nastiness.

Best: One of the best fandoms for supporting artists, helps people make a living.

Worst: Most people make said living by doing nothing but yiff YCHs and shitty adopts and then charging ungodly prices and I don’t hate myself enough to do that yet.

Niedlich the Folf

Cute Folf.
Best: the people like you
Worst: art thieves are rampant in this fandom.

I haven't been involved in the actual furry community for very long.
So far, it seems that the people are nice (mostly).
The reputation given to it by the media is really negative.
But, it seems to be improving (at least until a certain CSI episode comes back in reruns).

If you type "that one episode csi episode" into google it actually pops that episode up.

Best: The nice people I've met in this fandom, the fact that most people are really supportive and wonderful people. And also being able to express my love for anthro art and feeling like I belong somewhere in the art community when before I felt out of place because, while I do draw humans, I've always liked to draw furries more and in the furry community, that art will be more appreciated.

Worst: While I do really like these forums, I'm not a fan of the main site as much because of the fact that it seems that drawing yiff is the only way to get any popularity and while I mostly draw for myself, I still miss the days before my parents kicked me from DA when my art was actually paid attention to since, contrary to popular belief, yiff doesn't rule DA like it does FA. I also can't ever browse the art on FA because I always come across a lot of disturbing fetish art since fetish art is considered general despite its usual sexual intent, and the poor filtering since everything's considered general as long as the nether regions are censored, meaning a pic of a character thrusting said area towards the camera or removing their underwear is considered general despite that not being kid-friendly in any shape or form. It sucks to be honest, since I liked browsing art on DA but I can't really do that on FA.

Best: Any sharing or commerse of furry related creative expressions including fur-suits and art.

Worst: People who use the furry community as an avenue to engage in criminal activities such as stalking, harassing and any other harmful activities toward other people.

Compared to other fandoms we have the more unique artwork. (Granted most of it is shit, but you gotta take the small victories.)

The fandom could improve literally everything about its social interactions and stop coddling / accepting the disgusting socially inept dreck nobody else would tolerate.

Sneaky Lurker Boi?
Best: All the great people and artists that reside here >w<

Worst: Media stuff (though it’s getting better now), Furry haters (just leave us be >:V), and yiff art.

The best part of the fandom is that it's based on a concept rather than a franchise. This means there is a lot of originality as far as characters and worlds go. I love hearing the back stories of original characters and their interactions from the creators, especially if the creator has good writing skills.

The worst thing is the escapism. I'll very likely get flak for this, but here goes.
While many make a fursona because it's fun, most I've met use it as something to hide behind. They create a character from their ideal species with their ideal personality and use it as a mask, pretending on the internet to be that character.
It gets deeper with fursuiters, of which I've seen a number of interviews over the years where the suiter said they felt more themselves being the character they portray in their suit.

One of the best elements of the fandom is how creative the fandom is. Honestly this is what drew me into being a furry in the first place. The creativity is always running high within the fandom and I always love to see it in other's artworks and or fursonas. I especially love seeing the creativity people have with their fursonas, it just always amazes me seeing what they come up with.

The worst element of the fandom is quite debatable, but for me it would have to be both finding someone who's able to hold long conversations and the NSFW art. For the first part, I'm talking about those conversations that go something along the lines of "hi, how are you, I'm good, cute fursona, bye!" While I don't mind them, these conversations unfortunately have happened all the time with my experience thus far within the fandom. Perhaps I was just using the wrong platform at the time (Furry Amino), but I really would love to have long lasting conversations with other furries that are more in depth than the example given. For the second part, it's quite self explanatory. We all know everyone occasionally dabbles in the NSFW side of things, but I dislike how it's become something that most non-furs use as an example to represent the fandom as a whole.
