The first furry...

Does anyone know when and where the first furry was "created" and what it was?
I believe the first species was from the lycanthrope idea somewhere in greece, but hey, that's just what I think.

why does everyone say that?
I'm just trying to start a few conversations.
is that so wrong?

When those conversations are pointless, yes.

Furry is a fandom by the way, it's not some long-upheld culture.

uh oh stinky
listen Krasl, you're really getting obnoxious. please don't become the first person on FA that i dislike. you make more threads than i do.

"According to fandom historian Fred Patten, the concept of furry originated at a science fiction convention in 1980, when a character drawing from Steve Gallacci’s Albedo Anthropomorphics started a discussion of anthropomorphic characters in science fiction novels. This led to the formation of a discussion group that met at science fiction and comics conventions. Patten defined "Furry fandom" as "the organized appreciation and dissemination of art and prose regarding 'Furries', or fictional mammalian anthropomorphic characters."

The specific term "Furry fandom" was being used in fanzines as early as 1983, and had become the standard name for the genre by the mid-1990s. However, fans consider the origins of furry fandom to be much earlier, with fictional works such as Kimba, The White Lion released in 1965, Richard Adams' novel Watership Down, published in 1972 (and its 1978 film adaptation), as well as Disney's Robin Hood as oft-cited example"

Well, honestly, all posts i've read turn pointless eventually...
So, i'm not the only one you should be getting on to for doing this (not that anyone else is at the moment).
and not to sound rude, but I know it is not a culture, if anything it is just a simple hobby or a type of artwork/story/etc. that some people become interested in.

really, the idea of what we call "furry" is as old as humanity itself. we've always been ascribing human qualities to non human things. we personify and even deify not just animals, but inanimate objects and non-corporeal ideas. It's just a question of when was the term "furry" coined. does that really matter much?

What Shenzebo means is "make your topics more open-ended, and stop making so many topics."

The topic you just made has only one answer. Not too conversation friendly. This topic is more suited for the Q&A board.
Also your "claw or sword","fox or wolf" and "yiff or violence" topics belong in the First or Second thread.

fine, if that is what everyone wants...

Nah, it's cool man. We all make mistakes. Just do your best.
Post a little wiser from now on, and try to avoid getting butthurt.

It's not that serious.

Posting is fine just don't make a new thread every hour, this place gets slow at times and you just got to be patient and wait for a thread to pick up.

Wiki lies, sometimes, but despite that I couldn't help notice something mammalian... meaning if your not a mammal then Wiki does not recognize you as a furry! Yayz for furry racism!

GIVE THAT FOX A CIGAR - he nailed it!

The first furry was drawn on a cave wall in France THIRTEEN FREAKING THOUSAND YEARS AGO!!!

We are carrying on a noble tradition here, folks. Case closed.
