-morality crusaders

...so I can't say I did at the few I went to, but then again, one might not notice them, if they kept quiet.

Infamous furs? Well i've met DeoTazDevil and Len Gilbert, they're rather infamous in the circles that know about the ridiculous extension of America's political divide into the fandom.

Met Deo first and her...assertions and the nature in which she asserted them led me to speak to people like Len and Foxler. Len's fine, Foxler's weird, Deo's arrogant and unnecessarily hostile, this hostility is couched behind moral crusading. As it happens i'm not sure if Deo used to post here under DeoVacuus, would still like to talk to her about the finer points of Anarcho-Communism but i have a feeling that opportunity is lost.

I've met a few infamous trolls, creeps, and bullies in person, and the most striking thing to me is how often these people are cowards or milquetoasts in person.

The second-most-striking thing is how some people will continue to show up to events where they're very clearly not welcome, and will float around the periphery as people work very hard to avoid or ignore them.

That's what makes me feel like these sorts of people are just really, really attention starved and are willing to do anything to get it. The sorts of people who bully others online (and just bullies in general) usually have very low self esteem, or have been so deprived of personal agency in their lives that they're constantly looking for ways to establish their power over anyone they can, however they can.
That said I have pity for these people because, honestly, to get to that low of a point, one has to have been in a bad place for quite a while.

deo used to post on here all the time. I actually knew her quite well back then. very active on FAF.

Yeah, vaguely remember seeing Deo post years back myself. Although i think she started trailing off of the forums when i first got here. She seemed like a fairly standard regular for the time tbh, was certainly one of the ones i saw as being more noteworthy.

I left when the site became too restrictive on shitposting. Things seem to have gotten better now though.

Not sure when you left but i don't remember seeing you around. The site had an...issue with the moderation team a few years back and the place has changed rather drastically as a result. I think i've seen a few old members trickle in recently though.
