Bug/Site Problem: The Muting Algorithm is TOO General

I'm a man of few keystrokes... here's what I have to say, and let me tell you that when you built this site, you got a particularly poor programmer.

Spam too much within a short timespan and you get a reply restriction. It's that simple.

Continue doing it and you will be stuck in that cycle. Okami is stuck in that cycle because he didn't listen to my previous 4-5 warnings I gave him. He can take shit to a PM if it bothers him that much.

How to not get reply restrictions:
1. Take things that can be considered more private to a PM. PM's have no reply restriction
2. Use basic netiquette when replying. When replying, quote everyone you want to reply to in the same comment
3. Don't go about finding threads you can immediately reply to and reply in it. Wait a minute or two. People don't vanish in that time, and such reply delays are kinda expected, especially on forums
4. Follow the rules, ToS and the way the forums behave when it comes to replies and you won't have any problems

I have to agree here with Yakamaru,

Looking at a few of the profiles that have experienced this, they all are posting a number of posts in a short period of time.

This will trigger the reply restrictions to be enforced, it is quite literally as simple as that.

Also contrary to the original post, these forums have nothing to do with the site in terms of coding, they are third party software and coded by some of the dev's that made VBulletin. There are some plugins which may have some negative impact on the way the spam system is performing, but this hasn't yet been tested or confirmed.
Expanding on Karatine's point, it is true that it does occur more on newer accounts, the exact cause, as i mentioned above has not yet been determined.

Personally I do not understand why they changed from VBulletin to Xenforo, since it was working just fine before.

As much as I appreciate all of the advice that some see fit to provide, y'all realize that I can check the analytics on that video and see if anyone even watched it, right? If anyone remembers correctly, I essentially said that the system needs a tune-up. NOT a ground-up rework, but definitely a tune-up. Maybe a link in the "Please see reply restrictions that apply here" statement that you see when muted, and have it point to the ToS, or some other thread that explains what's happening? And definitely some clarity on how long it lasts? I'm not asking for the moon- just a couple minor adjustments that make things a little more clear.

What is annoying about what happens is that you try and emulate others' actions (people who aren't muted), and you GET muted... it seems like there's a major disconnect in the system to where it's not applied very evenly- admins aside (they need to stay vocal for obvious reasons), some get muted more than others; and the rest seem to be indemnified.

But that's just my opinion based on many hours of mute observation...

And you wonder why you are getting reply restricted..

Challenge accepted- you didn't even math, there. Here's where you f***ed up, bro- I'm gonna tally the types of activities in there, and then break it down:

Replied: 6
Liked: 13

As much as you don't like it, one can't be restricted from liking posts that occur, even while muted. So I'm sorry that you don't like seeing me do anything, but too bad. I'm going to keep liking things that I like, and you can butt out.
