Given the recent news, I figured it might be nice for everyone to gather and share their thoughts over the forum, mainly in a farewell speech.
If there are friends you'll miss, features you'll mourn, a particular story that comes to mind regarding FAF events...feel free to brag about it here and offer condolences while you have the opportunity.

Personally speaking, I'm thankful to FAF. I met a lot of good friends that I'll keep in touch with, and experienced a lot of top-tier chef-kiss levels of trolling that really you could only have nightmares about. My block list became longer than my stockings, and yet still the members remained fresh with creative minds and beautiful wordsmiths. Staff and members had their moments, I know I certainly did, but we all just found some time every week to get together and talk amongst each other about the community that for whatever reason accepted us...and I think that's pretty fucking rad. So I bid you farewell FAF.

You served the community for a long time. It'll be tough seeing you go, but I'm sure someone will provide an alternative to pick up your legend where you left off.
In the meantime, we'll just have to deal with the discord without you.

- @luffy: May you find people to fill the void of complaints on discord now that FAF can't feed them to you
- @Flamingo: May you give Luffy complaints so balance can be restored
- @Dragoneer: Just. Thank you. For providing FAF to begin with. Sad to see it go, but it wouldn't have happened without ya...and that's kind of incredible to think about. So thanks.

I am going to miss this place man. Been on it since 2017, even though I deleted my first account because of personal problems. I am glad that I came back.
I've made good friends here. Some I talk with on a regular basis, some I lost touch with for one reason or another - mainly affected by real-life problems.

I still remember very fondly the Don Volpe RP. It felt alive.
I still remember the very first furry discord server I joined.
All the countless hours spent posting and reading other people's posts. All the talks about our fursonas, common interests, sometimes fighting over whatever stupid stuff.

I don't know. I'm kind of at a loss for words. This place has been a part of my daily life for half a decade. It's been with me at my lowest of lows, and at times I've felt great. It's difficult to find what to say. It's a bitter-sweet feeling.

I've enjoyed this forum, sorry to see it go, but I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in the Discord. Madness, I'm sure. And I want to be part of it.

Kind of feels like I just found my sense of balance, and then suddenly the floor caved in. I was always low-key worried I had joined the overall fur fandom "too late", as silly as that sounds, but it kind of feels that way joining last-minute and then seeing an ETA for closure.

I still had the idea of making an introductory thread... not sure if I've managed to build any reputation here yet, maybe a tiny one, but I suppose I'm officially letting that idea go now

It's not really the first time I've been part of a legacy forum that just lost traffic over the years, either, so I guess I'm used to it. Given the talks about budget, I had a feeling something was going to shift. It's kind of apparent this forum doesn't get a lot of traffic, and I'm more surprised it didn't close sooner. I can understand their reasoning, though that doesn't mean I'm not upset about it

I'll be putting my affairs in order with the forum (archiving RP threads and finding some commission-oriented Discord servers) before I say my proper goodbyes.

But it's been a rollercoaster for sure.

FAF was pretty much the last holdout for me forum-wise, so I will probably be on the Discord more often. It helps that I'm in a stable enough situation that some of my anxieties about using Discord might be possible to alleviate.

If anything, this might very well lead to me being more of a furry(/scaly) overall.

I have to say I’m disappointed to hear this news.
I’m also a bit concerned that the main channel of communication outside of the main site is moving to Discord, considering the site attacks we’ve had and the work that’s already gone into making the forums more secure, with thanks to @Flamingo as our main workhorse (workbird?).
