Thinking of creating my first Fursona. Thoughts?

Hello, I've been thinking of making a sona for myself called Snow. They'll be white with a very pale accent color like blue or gray for example.

It's my first time making one for myself. Since I don't really have a sense of self and have Aphantasia I'm looking for some input.

How do you guys make your Fursonas?

I'm thinking of maybe a white fox but that's just because I think it would be fun to draw. I'm open to any suggestions at all. Scaleys are fine too!

I like to look through nature YouTube pages and Wikipedia for more obscure species.

For personality I try and base them off an aspect of myself or someone I know.

For design I stick to plausible colours for the species, with more outlandish patterns providing the uniqueness.

Names I'm shit at lmao.

As for snowy OR white species off the top of my head

- Snowshoe Hare (Lepus Americanus)
- Canada Lynx (Lynx Canadensis)
- Eurasian Lynx (Lynx Lynx)
- Arctic Hare (Lepus Arcticus)
- Silky Sifaka (Propithecus Candidus)
- Black and White Ruffed Lemur (Varecia Varigata)
- Manul (Otocolobus Manul)
- Orca (Orcinus Orca)
- Beluga (Delphinapterus Leucas)
- Most Penguins and Pinnipeds
- Snow Leopard (Panthera Uncia)
- Polar Bear (Ursus Maritimus)
- Indri (Indri Indri)
- Tibetan Fox (Vulpes Ferrilata)
- Arctic Fox (Vulpes Lagopus)

Hello! I'm currently making my own fursona, as well! I like to take personality tests online like the "What animal are you like" quizzes for fun so it gives an idea. If you already have a fox in mind for your fursona though, I think you should stick to it! I think a fursona should be what you find fun to draw and fun to be! So far the arctic fox design sounds pretty nifty, so all that's left is trying to figure out a name and if they'll be fluffy!

I think you're right about the species tbh. If it's your main sona you really gotta be attached to the species - part of the reason I took so long to start properly interacting with the fandom outside of /r/furry_irl was because I was undecided on whether to have a reptilian or feline sona - the latter eventually came out on top, but I may revisit the former at a later date.

I just created my sona this month, and just can say... If you already picked a Fox, go for it! Sounds actually as a good idea.

I did realize many people want to make a deep representation because a sona it's something more than an OC, it's an avatar an representation of a person, but I think some people forget to have fun with it. You can take photo reference of the species you decided to use, and make a fur pattern from it, but always remember that you can use forms or figures as a personal mark !

Wow! Thank you so much. This is a great list. I probably wouldn't have found half of these on my own -.-;

I'm still not 100% decided but those suggestions are super helpful. I'm almost tempted to do a mix breed but I'm going to try and figure myself out to help add more 'me' aspects lol

I like this. I'm going to do a bit of digging and have the fox I was thinking of as my backup plan :D

I hadn't thought about that. Do you have any links for the tests you took? I think I'll try that.

There is no one way to make a Fursona. Some people use their favorite character as a Fursona, others use a favorite species, others create completely unique hybrids or monsters that have no one set attribute. My best advice is to figure out what sort of theme or type of creature represents you, and then figure out how to make it your own.
