I’m conflicted.
On one hand, I love it here because most people here are very kind, accepting, and fun to be around. There’s a lot of positive energy here and the place gives off a lot of home felt and cozy small community vibes.
But on the other hand, I’ve grown a slight negative outlook to it. There are constant arguments going on in seemingly every thread. People showing no respect towards anyone else. Constantly shoving their opinions in your face and acting like they’re the ones who are right. Just all around being bitter. I’m not going to name names, but there are a few people on here that could be just a tad bit better with how they act. You already know who you are.
There’s also a lot more “political” and “controversial” threads on here that I’ve been noticing too. I generally don’t mind these types of threads. In fact, I kind of encourage it as long as it stays on topic and people are being respectful of each others opinions. I’ve been guilty of making these kinds of threads. I’m sure everyone on here has at one point or another. But what I’ve been seeing in these types of threads (and just threads in general) recently is people being a lot less respectful of other’s opinions, and just going on these huge rants and eventually derailing the thread, causing it to get locked down or abandoned. When they get called out, they act like the victim and automatically assume they’re in the right and everyone else is wrong. Again, not naming names, but you know who you are.
I wish people on here could be more respectul about others opinions and learn to, I dunno, be less of an ass with their opinions? I think we should all just learn to accept that sometimes, we’re in the wrong. Maybe we’re the ones that were responsible for the thread being derailed. Or maybe we’re the ones that can’t handle criticism.
On the mod topic. I personally think there needs to be more mods. With only one mod, this place can turn into a frenzy real quick and that person might not even be online. They could be sleeping, working, doing something with friends or just don’t have the time to be online to moderate the forums. Imagine if someone decided to raid the forums. It would probably take an entire day to get rid of all the spam and delete all the accounts if it was just one person. And in that time, they could just create new accounts and do the same thing. It also takes a while just for anything to be done. It might take a few hours just for a thread to be locked or for you to get a response by the mod. I’m not shitting on the mod at all. They’re a very good person that I can tell loves doing what they do. But we need more mods. Having one mod is just not working. This website is too big for one person to be a mod on. There needs to be at least one mod online when the others are offline. Because if that one mod isn’t online and something goes down on the website, it’s going to go down for awhile and people are going to be very upset or might just straight up leave. It will also cause a lot of stress for the one mod who is here who will end up sacrificing a lot of their social life/time to keeping an eye on the forums just in case something does happen. It will also make the forums look unappealing to new members and guests on the outside. We seriously need more mods, and if we don’t get more soon, something could happen to this website and it won’t be pretty. We’re all defenseless if something does happen. The only thing we can do is block and report. What if this website gets DDosed or Doxxed? What if someone sends an army of bots to spam here? What if someone is bullying or harassing another user and the one mod that is here isn’t online? It’s a recipie for disaster and we NEED more mods.
