maybe it's only affecting certain parts of the servers? It's been doing this for coming up on three full days for me now, and it's only getting worse. Weirdest thing is, it only started 24 hours after the site recovered from its latest DDoS attack. Oh, and it's only affecting certain people, despite clearly being an actual site issue.
then that would mean all the people who somehow still can post, and have no problems will lose the submissions they've posted if the sites rolled back XPNo idea... Honestly, if it weren't for the three days' worth of new submissions we'd lose, I'd say they should just roll the whole site back to how it was before this started and see if that works...
well, hopefully it'll be fixedConfirmed that it’s a Cloudflare caching issue; report the specific submissions and they’ll force refresh them with Cloudflare:
there are 30 to 40,000 thousand users on average on FA so it can be done if we work together
This sums it up nicely.
Or maybe, given that this doesn't fix thumbnails and only some people are experiencing this, an actual fix can be found.there are 30 to 40,000 thousand users on average on FA so it can be done if we work together
i think that they're working on fixing it, but that this is the only reliable method as of nowOr maybe, given that this doesn't fix thumbnails and only some people are experiencing this, an actual fix can be found.
I certainly hope so, because I don't want to just have tons of missing thumbnails everywhere, and I sure as hell don't have the time or patience to go through thousand upon thousands of images, see whether they load or not in both preview and full form, and send in a problem ticket for every single one that doesn't work.i think that they're working on fixing it, but that this is the only reliable method as of now
we must have patience
there's a solution for individual imagesI certainly hope so, because I don't want to just have tons of missing thumbnails everywhere, and I sure as hell don't have the time or patience to go through thousand upon thousands of images, see whether they load or not in both preview and full form, and send in a problem ticket for every single one that doesn't work.
Yeah, that's not a solution, that's a time-consuming band-aid on a sitewide shotgun wound. And that still requires you to take the time to see which ones work or not, AND it STILL does not fix thumbnails or, as I've discovered are crapping out now, people's avatars.there's a solution for individual images
i don't know if you already know this, but, if you open up the images on a separate tab and put a question mark and a random string of letters behind the end of the url (i.e. ?hdjhfdjfdhfdjhfdjhfdj) than it should be fixed
well, at least they're doing somethingYeah, that's not a solution, that's a time-consuming band-aid on a sitewide shotgun wound. Well, that's better than nothing, if it's indeed a proven-to-work method, but that still means a lot of wasted time for people with a couple thousand submissions.I haven't any issues with the thumbnails on my own submissions (EDIT: Some of them did disappear even though I could still see them earlier, and they only disappeared on certain screens), but I was running into the actual images themselves not loading after I was submitting them. What I ended up doing was just replacing the source file of the image with the same exact image, and that seemed to fix it. You could probably do the same to fix the thumbnails as well.
It’s an issue that should eventually resolve itself, if nothing else, though I can’t say how soon as I don’t recall exactly how the Cloudflare caching works.Or maybe, given that this doesn't fix thumbnails and only some people are experiencing this, an actual fix can be found.
They should all be fixed now:I noticed a little while ago that all of the thumbnails and submissions that were missing are now visible to me, so it might be fixed. However, it could also be a regional thing, so it might have been fixed where I am and some other places, but not everywhere else. Also, it might only be working temporarily, so they could disappear again later of something goes horribly wrong or if work keeps being done on it.
goodThey should all be fixed now:
If the problem recurs, obviously report it at that time, but it should be resolved.
