Good news, just the side job now. Turtles start in..........6.5 hours. First loggerheads of the season were seen this weekend. Activity is gonna start picking up and might see a few nesting on the beach this coming week.

In total the program has somewhere around 25 to 30 people. 4 are managers in varying capacities. The rest are split between morning surveyors, evening surveyors, and lighting surveyors. I am in both Evening and Lighting doing double duty.

For tests do you mean lighting? Lights have to be a certain wavelength band and design to not cause turtles to disorient towards land. We can 99% of the time sight it from training and experience but qe do carry a spectroscope to check.

The program also collect data on beach renourishments, satellite tracking, and I hear they want to do genetic sampling at some point too.

In Florida there are progeans for sea turtles, shore birds and gators. Sure you could get involved with something if you have something like that around you
